Metal Shop Projects Throughout the year

Hello fellow people of the internet, it has been one crazy year and I would like to just go over what I've done in the Machines & Tools class. I've learned many new things and I was able to put them to good use.

1. What was your favorite project from Mr.G's class this year?
In my opinion, my favorite project to do out of the whole school year was making the case for battery controller.

2. Why was this your favorite project?

Throughout this project I was able to get more experience by using new machines and being proficient with others.

3. What tools did you use to create this project?

The tools I would use for this project was hand shears, calipers, compass, spot welders, among many other machines.

4. What skill did you learn from creating this project?
Ive learned many skills throughout this project like engine turning, sanding properly, polishing (which was surprisingly hard for me), shaping metal, pre-planning, and most of all having pride in what I made.

5. What mistakes did you make in this project?

Mistakes happened here and there, but one mistake I remember clearly is when I drilled a hole a bit bigger than the other holes, and there was a risk that there wasn't a rivet the size of the hole.

6. What research did you do to learn more about the project?

Research that was done for this project would be mostly tutorial videos which made it a whole lot easier.

7.What is your second favorite project?

My second favorite project of this school year was working on a hovercraft with the S.T.E.A.M team.

8. What was your favorite tool or piece of equipment that you used in this shop?

My favorite machine in the whole shop would be the MIG welder.

9. What tool you wanted to learn, but you didn't get a change to try or learn?

The power hammer was one of the machines I couldn't get to try this school year.

10. What advice would you give a student that is coming to the class for the first time?

This class is an amazing experience to have, the hands on in this class will help you out if you are going into the world of manufacturing, design, or auto tech. Don't waste your time sitting around in the shop, you will only look back and ask why you couldn't do more.

This year it was a blast working with machines in this amazing class that Memorial High School has provided and I'm looking towards more in the near future. =)
