How to use a sand blaster cabinet!

While I was working on some class projects, I noticed that most sheet metal that was lying around was covered in rust. Which meant that I could not use the metal because its appearance would make my project look bad. Although I could ignore the pieces covered in rust, I decided to do something about. I am going to use a specific tool that removes most rust and any other thing that is on the surface.

Question: What tool removes rust from sheet metal?

Answer: The machine above is called a Sand Blaster Cabinet. The machines spray gun shoots little sand particles fast enough to remove all stains and rust.

Question: How do I operate this machinery?

Answer: As you can see there are two essential things you need in order to operate the machine. The gas pipeline and the pedal. For safety measures we always have the gas valve closed but in the picture you can see it is turned on because it was in use. Once you know what you're going to spray it on, aim the spray gun and step on the pedal for it to function.

Question: Are there any safety hazards?

Answer: Unfortunately, yes there is. The window above is how you see your work. Like I said before the gun shoots tiny sand particles, and if it makes contact with your skin or any body part, it might damage permanently or irritate. that is why you also have these special gloves which protect you from harm.

Question: Can you show us an example of the affect it has towards the metal?

Answer: Of course! As you can see the metal is severely rusted and looks bad but that will all change in an instant.

As you can see I'm spraying the piece of metal with stand and the stains are gradually going away.

You can tell the difference with this picture that one side looks way better than the other one. It looks like it is in a better condition.

I finished spraying the metal and this is the results. It honestly looks way better than it was before.

Question: Did you learn anything valuable while doing this?
Answer: Yes I did learn a new skill with machinery, and I also learned that nothing really is trash, it just needs a bit of retouch.

I was able to turn this.......

.....Into this!!

Thanks for viewing this post and until next time!
